Henderson State Board Votes to Join Arkansas State University System
The Henderson State University Board of Trustees today voted to join the Arkansas State University System and proceed with development of a merger agreement. The move is subject to approval of the ASU Board of Trustees and the Higher Learning Commission, as well as action by the Arkansas General Assembly. ASU President Chuck Welch said the target for finalizing the transition would be no later than Jan. 1, 2021.
Arkansas FOIA Training Symposium Set for Nov. 5 at Arkansas State University
An Arkansas Freedom of Information Act Training Symposium for government officials and the public will be held Nov. 5 from 1-3 p.m. in the First National Bank Arena auditorium on the Arkansas State University campus. A speakers panel will provide an overview of FOIA requirements and answer questions about fulfilling FOIA requests.
A-State 'Come to the 870 Plan' Removes Financial Barrier for Students
Students who are residents of Arkansas who have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of zero on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, will have no upfront cost to attending Arkansas State University next academic year. The Come to the 870 Plan invites students from families with modest means from across the state to attend on-campus at A-State.

ASU Board Hears Updates on Public-Private Partnerships, Expansion
The Arkansas State University System Board of Trustees heard updates on three public-private partnership projects, the pending addition of College of the Ouachitas, and consulting work with Henderson State University during its regular meeting today. ASU System President Chuck Welch noted that Arkansas State had embarked on three significant projects over the past six years – a privately funded campus in Mexico, a hotel and convention center, and a medical school – with key partners.
College of the Ouachitas Board Votes to Become Arkansas State University Three Rivers
The College of the Ouachitas Board of Trustees voted Sept. 10 at a special called meeting to rename the school Arkansas State University Three Rivers and adopt a new logo. In February, the COTO board voted to align with the Arkansas State University System. The change will become effective Jan. 1, 2020, pending approval by the Higher Learning Commission.
‘Just Settling In’ Sculpture Debuts at A-State to Promote American Red Wolf Conservation
North Carolina sculptor Dale Weiler unveiled “Just Settling In” today at the Bradbury Art Museum on the Arkansas State University campus to raise awareness about the critically endangered American red wolf. The 200-pound alabaster stone sculpture of a red wolf and her pup is part of a collection created and owned by Weiler Woods for Wildlife.
