Damphousse Resigns as Chancellor of Arkansas State University
Dr. Kelly Damphousse today announced his resignation as chancellor of Arkansas State University effective June 30, 2022 after completing five years of service to A-State. Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, earlier announced Damphousse has been named as the sole finalist to replace Dr. Denise Trauth as president on July 1, 2022.

Moody’s Investor Services assigned an A1 rating for $42.2 million in bonds for Henderson State University and $24.4 million in bonds for Arkansas State University that will be refinanced to generate cost savings for the institutions. Moody’s also issued a “stable outlook” for the ASU System that reflects “gradual recovery at Henderson, including improvement in financial performance and liquidity.”

Gov. Hutchinson Appoints A-State Alumnus Price Gardner to Second Term on ASU System Board
Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed Price Gardner of Little Rock, a 1984 graduate of Arkansas State University, to a second term on the ASU System Board of Trustees. Gardner, who is managing partner of Friday Eldredge & Clark LLP, the state’s largest law firm, was first appointed to a five-year term by Hutchinson in 2017 and served as chair of the ASU System Board in 2021. His reappointment is for a seven-year term – as specified by Act 18 of 2021 as part of the board’s expansion to seven members – and expires in January 2029. He is serving as vice chair of the board.
