03/27/2022

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas State University System Board of Trustees today approved Henderson State University’s request to certify financial exigency and proceed with efforts to build a sustainable academic program and financial model for the future.

ASU System President Chuck Welch said the procedural vote followed the recommendations of Henderson Chancellor Chuck Ambrose, the Faculty Senate, the university provost and academic administrative personnel. Pursuant to university policy, Henderson will initiate actions in response, which may include reduction or elimination of certain programs and employee positions.

The board also approved a resolution to give Arkansas State University more flexibility on the refinancing of certain bond issues depending on market conditions.
