A-State to Host FEMA's Training for Higher Education Leaders

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University will host the first Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) team training event for college and university campus personnel in the state beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12.
FEMA’s Multi-Hazard Emergency Management for Higher Education course is designed to provide the opportunity for groups of university emergency planners and administrators to exercise and review emergency operations plans for their institutions.
The three-day course presented by FEMA covers a wide range of topics related to identifying and managing hazards for higher education. Arkansas State’s Regional Center for Disaster Preparedness Education is coordinating the event.
Along with members of the A-State administration, the entire Arkansas State University System will participate with representatives from ASU-Beebe, ASU Mid-South, ASU-Mountain Home and ASU-Newport as well as staff who work at campus sites of those institutions.
They are joined by teams from eight other regional colleges or universities from three states: East Arkansas Community College, Henderson State University, Lyon College, Southeast Missouri State University, Southwest Tennessee Community College, Southern Arkansas University, University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Williams Baptist College.
The training concludes on Thursday, Jan. 14.
