Henderson State University today announced the official renaming of its aviation flight training program as the Arkansas Aviation Academy, which will prepare pilots who are not enrolled as Henderson students but are seeking credentials to become commercial pilots. The Arkansas Aviation Academy, recently approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, expands Henderson’s long-established professional pilot bachelor’s degree program – the only public university program of its kind in the state.

Henderson State University has announced growth in freshman, sophomore, and transfer student enrollment for Spring 2025. Overall enrollment decreased 3 percent with 1,820 students in Spring 2025 compared with 1,879 students in Spring 2024. Preliminary 11th-day reporting shows a 28 percent jump in freshmen with 335 in Spring 2025 compared with 262 in Spring 2024. The sophomore class grew by 3 percent with 256 students versus 248 students year-over-year.
