2014 Open Enrollment

 Open enrollment has ended

New employees have 31 days from their hire date to complete their open enrollment

You may still log in and update beneficiaries.  Please check your enrollment confirmation carefully.  You may log in to review your elections.  If you made a mistake, please email your request for a correction to your Human Resource representative on your campus or to mybenefits@asusystem.edu.

The mandatory 2014 Arkansas State University open enrollment period allows benefits eligible faculty and staff to make changes to their existing benefit elections, add eligible dependents, remove dependents, elect new coverage, designate life insurance beneficiaries, and/or elect Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA's) for the new benefits plan year (January 1 - December 31). Employees may also increase, decrease, start or stop contributions to a supplemental retirement plan.

Open enrollment is required for all employees this year and can be done online at https://usable.benselect.com. Your temporary pin is the last four digits of your social security number and the last two digits of your birth year.

Below is information about changes to your 2014 benefit plans, rate information, and instructions on how to complete your enrollment online.  If you have any questions, please contact your Human Resource office or email mybenefits@asusystem.edu.  If you  have a Mac Computer you may have difficulty completing the enrollment process and may want to use a windows computer.

2014 BENEFIT CHANGES

Medical plan changes

  • Dependents under age 26 may be covered under our health plan.  Prior to 2014, married or non-student children from 19 - 25 who had access to their own or their spouses plan were not eligible as dependents.  You may add a dependent under age 26 during open enrollment.
  • No lifetime or annual maximums for coverage under the plan.  Prior to the Affordable Care Act, the plan covered $1,000,000 over the lifetime of each covered person on the plan.
  • A premium increase for Employee, Employee & Spouse, and Family coverage and a slight reduction for Employee & Children.  You may drop, change or add coverage during open enrollment.
  • An increase in generic prescription co-pays from $10 to $12.
  • An increase in deductible from $500 to $600 in network, and from $750 to $850 out of network.
  • An increase in out-of-pocket maximum from $1,500 to $1,700 in network, and from $2,000 to $2,250 out of network.

VOLUNTARY PRODUCT CHANGES

  • ASU's new voluntary produce vendor is UNUM.  Employees may enroll in voluntary hospitalization, critical care and accident insurance during open enrollment.
  • The new voluntary products include a wellness benefit that will pay you cash each year you have a covered medical screening.
  • ASU will no longer offer voluntary hospitalization, critical care or accidence insurance through AFLAC.  Employees with AFLAC insurance will receive information from AFLAC and may elect to continue their policies through direct billing.  You may download the form here.

LIFE INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT

  • Employees may enroll in optional life insurance without having to provide evidence of insurability.  Normally during open enrollment you have to be approved for additional life insurance.  Rates were reduced on April 1, 2013.
  • Employees may enroll in spousal dependent life up to $25,000 without having to provide evidence of insurability and dependent life on children up to $10,000.  You must be enrolled or enroll in employee optional life in order to elect spousal and/or dependent life.
